Problem solving skills are more important than the ability to purely write code. ALX created a habit loop of researching, learning, then applying. That, combined with the deadline-driven projects, created a time crunch mentality that pushed us to code at a high-level, international standard.

ALX helped me unlock my true potential and start to believe in myself. Through the experience, I was able to grow my skill set and identify my definition of success. It helped me to remember who I am and what I stand for. As a result, my outlook on life changed and I became inspired to recognise the contribution I could make as a young person.
Millicent Aluoch, Kenya
ALX showed me the depth and scope of the tech field and what it would take to work for a global tech company.
Kibirt Bayou, Ethiopia
What differentiates the ALX Software Engineering programme from any programme I have taken or heard of is its unique non-traditional approach to learning. I can testify that within 3 months I learnt more than I did in one full year of my university with the traditional education model. The project based approach to learning makes it possible to grasp every concept in detail. You will also develop the soft skills that are required for your career, learning from your peers and learning about professional growth constantly.
David Mutune, Kenya
When an opportunity arose to join ALX, I didn’t hesitate to submit an application. I was overjoyed to have been accepted and the experience exceeded my expectations in every way. The coaching and mentorship I received was incredible, accelerating my growth and giving me the confidence to start working in new environments. It was also wonderful to be in a group of likeminded people focused on building their skills on the continent.
Sharon Murage, Kenya
During my time at ALX, what stood out the most to me was the fast paced and highly comprehensive curriculum. I also enjoyed the focus on developing skills relevant for today’s tech industry, and how the Software Engineering programme grooms you to be able to solve complex, real world problems.

ALX offers job-ready training in the tech fields employers need most. ALX, in partnership with The ROOM, is brought to you by the organisation that leads African Leadership Academy, African Leadership University, and Anzisha Prize Foundation.

ALX programmes have a set number of cohort seats and in order to ensure you stand the best possible chance of getting accepted into the programme we recommend you apply as early as possible. The ALX selection period is split into two halves. Learners who apply before 9th August will receive feedback on their registration by 16th August. Learners who apply later than 9th August will receive feedback by 12th September.

Learners will be asked to complete their one-time administration fee payment when confirming their enrollment into the programme, no later than two weeks after receiving their confirmation of acceptance. For self-funding learners, flexible payment options are available.

Learners will receive an email to confirm acceptance into their selected programme from [email protected]. From this email you will be able to access our dedicated payment portal to pay your fee. This will be the only time that ALX will request payment for an administration fee from its sponsored learners – if you receive any other communication around selection fees or application fees, please notify us on [email protected]

Learners can choose to pay either in their local currency or in USD.

ALX accepts a wide variety of payment providers.
