In cases where harassment and discrimination is found to be severe or persistent, ALX reserves the right to impose a ban on the individual from applying to any future or current ALX Programmes. This ban is intended to protect the integrity of the learning community and ensure a safe and respectful environment for all participants.

In case there is a valid unavoidable reason for a late submission, ALX will review this and may be accepted or rejected by ALX at its sole discretion.

Policy Guidelines:

  1. Applying to more than one Programme:
    • Due to training requirements and Programme rigour, ALX only permits learners to be enrolled in one Programme at any given time. If you have applied to or are currently enrolled in a Programme, you will not be eligible to apply to another Programme.
  2. Reapplying:
    • a. If rejected from a Programme, Applicants can only re-apply to future Cohorts, including the Cohort immediately following the one the Applicant was rejected from. ALX does not permit Applicants to reapply within the same Cohort they were rejected from. Take time to reflect on some of the areas you need to improve on before re-applying to the next Cohort.
    • b. If you withdraw, drop out or fail a course, you may reapply to an upcoming Cohort.
  3. Reporting Misconduct:
    • Any individual who becomes aware of or experiences Misconduct during the Application process is encouraged to promptly report through our help centre. All allegations will be treated seriously and investigated thoroughly.
  4. Investigation Process:
    • Upon receiving a report of Misconduct, we will conduct a fair and impartial investigation. This may involve gathering evidence and taking any other necessary steps to determine the validity of the allegations. The time taken for the investigation process will vary depending on the severity of the offence.
  5. Consequences for Misconduct:
    • The consequences of Misconduct during the Application process may vary depending on the severity of the offence. The following actions are examples of potential consequences:
    • a.Warning: A formal warning may be issued to the individual responsible for the Misconduct. This serves as a notification that their behaviour violated the code of conduct and emphasises the importance of adhering to our ethical standards.
    • b. Disqualification: Misconduct may result in the disqualification of an Applicant. Disqualified Applicants will be informed of the decision and the reasons why via email. A disqualified Applicant will not be permitted to continue with the Application or participate in any of our Programmes or any related activities for a given amount of time. This time will depend on the severity of the offence.
    • c. Legal Action: In cases where the Misconduct involves criminal activities, the organisation may report the incident to the appropriate law enforcement authorities for further investigation and potential legal action. This may involve falsely posing as ALX and requesting Applicants to pay you Application or Programme fees.
  6. Appeals: Applicants have the right to appeal decisions regarding consequences for Misconduct. ALX will communicate the appeal process to Applicants. If an applicant or participant disagrees with a disciplinary decision made by the Disciplinary Committee, they have the right to appeal the decision. The following outlines the steps involved in the appeal process:
    • a. Submission of Appeal
    • The individual seeking an appeal must submit a written appeal letter to the Disciplinary Committee within 2 weeks after receiving the disciplinary decision. The appeal letter should clearly state the reasons for the appeal, including any new evidence or information that may not have been previously considered.
    • b. Formation of Appeal Panel
    • Upon receiving the appeal letter, the Disciplinary Committee will form an Appeal Panel consisting of impartial and unbiased individuals who were not involved in the initial disciplinary decision. The Appeal Panel may include ALX staff members or external experts, as deemed appropriate.
    • c. Review and Hearing
    • The Appeal Panel will conduct a thorough review of the case, considering all the evidence presented in the initial disciplinary process and any new information provided in the appeal letter. If necessary, a hearing may be arranged where the appellant and relevant witnesses can present their perspectives and respond to questions from the Appeal Panel.
    • d. Appeal Decision
    • Following the review and hearing, the Appeal Panel will make a decision on the appeal. The decision may result in one of the following outcomes:
      • Uphold the original disciplinary decision.
      • Modify the original disciplinary decision.
      • Overturn the original disciplinary decision and exonerate the appellant.
    • e. Notification
